The Bay Area is home to people from all over the world, especially across Asia and the Pacific Islands. My wife and I, originally from Taiwan, have spent many years building our lives here. Like many immigrants, we often found ourselves between cultures — searching for a sense of comfort and belonging through community, music, and food.

Around ten years ago, we visited Hawaii for the first time. The moment we arrived, something felt familiar. It was the relaxed atmosphere, the island spirit, and especially the food. Hawaiian Plate Lunch beautifully blends American comfort with Asian flavors, creating something warm, welcoming, and deeply satisfying. After that first trip, we found ourselves returning to Hawaii again and again — not just for the islands, but for the feeling and the food that made us feel at home.
